Finally…

I love photography (obviously) but maybe as much as I love photography I also love business!! I’ve always loved business. As a kid I use to love going to work with my dad. I remember looking down through the window watching what looked like little toy cars on the busy Seattle streets down below us. One thing I and he’d remember vividly were my contracts! I use to get my dad to sign these contracts when he was especially occupied (like on an important phone call) it was always a signing bonus for my “services” of answering his phone and… yep that was about it. He would be required to pay me $5 dollars an hour and take me to lunch! What can I say? I’ve always been a Savvy business gal I guess!?

I always knew, when I grew up I wanted to be just like my dad (only a little less hairy). And I can truly say, minus the hair (thank goodness) that I think I have! After getting married I went to work with my dad. From him, I learned to run, manage and operate a small business and of course I had a signing contract – lunch, just the two of us – everyday. They were great years, but when Adilyn was born, I knew where I wanted to be… With her! The entrepreneur in me, however – she just couldn’t rest. When I fell in love with photography and decided to start professionally all that learning and love for business came back with an even deeper appreciation and passion for it. I have always had a need for teaching and sharing, being able to inspire other gives me deep fulfillment that I honestly just crave! Go{4}Pro became that outlet for me as I have shared and taught about marketing, branding and building a business.

One of my most favorite topics is branding and marketing. I seriously {heart} that stuff so it’s something I’m constantly talking about on Go{4}Pro. Well it’s been a little (major understatement with some minor sarcasm) irksome to not be properly branded myself! See, I knew in my head what I wanted but could never seem to find it. Finally I sat down and designed and created it all myself. I’m so please with the outcome and truly love the final product. The problem now was finding the time to implement it all, well that problem has turned into a very frustrating thorn in my side. I had 2 logos going and nothing was flowing at all and it was constantly on my mind. The teacher was not following her own lessons and let me tell you, that was not going over well with me, at all! Finally I carved out some time, it came between 8pm and 6 am a couple days ago and I implemented a makeover intervention of sorts for myself! It’s not done but it’s much closer to what I’ve been wanting and I’m very excited to have you see the fruits of my labor…

I wanted to include a few playful shots I took of Adilyn yesterday while she taught me about posing. My sweet Adi-Girl wants to be a photographer (with her letters on her car) and a mommy when she grows up. I know my chances aren’t great (at least for the photographer part) that she won’t change her mind, but I secretly hope she never does, it makes my heart really happy!!

  10. I LOVE your post about your self. So personal and insightful. And I know people want to get to know “Leah Remillet.” (Quotes because you are turning into a “Jasmine Star”, “Jesh de Rox”, or “Tamara Lackey.” You say the name, and you know exactly what I’m talking about.) Go Leah! And I love the pictures of your little girl. My three year old also said she wants to be a photographer, and my heart beamed.

Wow, awesome blog design! I have a prophoto blog too, but it doesn’t have all those cool graphic elements like tabs that look like old tape and such. How did you do that??? I love everything about your new blog, except that I agree with Amy–not crazy about the text font, only because it’s a little hard on the eyes to read. Other than that, perfect!
